Appearance – Pretty enough, but not giving the impression of it being at the expensive end of the market. If these were on a platter at the Christmas party you’d be forgiven for overlooking them.
Mince to Pastry ratio – OK – a lower filling level than you’d expect in a premium pie. However the pastry is a good thickness.
Mouthfeel – A delight for the tongue! A good crispy pastry complemented with the sugar on top. Satisfying chunks of fruit in the mincemeat.
Flavour – Boozy and delicious filling – I just wish they had filled up the case. Tasty pastry too as you’d expect.
Summary – A very nice pie that I want to rate higher for the flavour. However it’s been let down on two counts – slightly under filled and not very distinctive to look at. B-
Overall Rating – 3.5 Santas
