Appearance – An attractive pie that’s spoiled a little with too much icing sugar – why do they do it! Slight browning to the pastry, but nothing too bad. Bonus points for the gold case (Shiny!)
Mince to Pastry ratio – A good deep filling (take note Mr Kipling!) and minimal pastry adds up to very high ratio.
Mouthfeel – Squishy plump fruits and silky pastry – a delight for the mouth.
Flavour – Delicious fruity flavour to the mince and a lovely buttery pastry. I had to have another one, which is saying something given the Mince Pie overload.
Summary – A real step up in quality from the lattice pies I tried last week. Another that falls foul of the icing sugar overdose, but for that it would be the top scorer so far. All in still a top notch pie!
Overall Rating – 4 Santas
